Ideaco CUBE Umbrella Holder

As if choosing from 5 colors wasn't enough, we decided to add another color, WHITE! The first product marketed under Ideaco brand in Japan back in 1998, the CUBE umbrella holder is still one of their best sellers, not only in Japan, but also around the world. "White" will be available for sale in late-February'08.

PULL+PUSH exhibition in Kyoto, Japan

In December last year, PULL+PUSH held an exhibition in Kyoto to showcase their collection and to display their new work in progress. The above, which you may recognize already, is the CUBE Planter, introduced for the first time in the U.S. Yup, that's correct, this piece was actually created and sold exclusively for the U.S. market through MollaSpace, not for Japan.

Above 2 photos include prototypes of what to expect from PULL+PUSH in the near future. Particularly, the dark piece, similar to the CUBE (used as a table light), is produced using charcoal to add color to their collection. Charcoal is often used in Japan's household to absorb humidity and purify the air, as the weather can get quite hot and humid during the summer and the typhoon season.

Ideaco's accomplishments in Japan

As the year 2007 comes to an end, we look back at some of the designers we've worked with over the years and thought, why not share with you about some of their background and legacy in their home countries, in particular Ideaco & Associates. They are the first of our partnerships under MollaSpace.

While many of you may not recognize our designers here in the US, their presence and contribution in their respective home countries can not be overlooked.

Ideaco & Associates, based in Osaka, Japan, is a product design and planning company established in 1989. Their CUBE umbrella holder, their first product to be launched under their own brand, has since been a long-time seller, still talked about in the media today. You can instantly recognize their products from its bright color selections and simple, yet functional interior pieces.
